The initiative to create the Museum of Indigenous Cultures (MCI) materialized from the second half of 2021, driven by indigenous mobilizations for the rights to territory and differentiated education, which took place in parallel with the projection of indigenous arts in the artistic-cultural context of São Paulo. Paul. In the dialogue between indigenous leaders, public managers and representatives of the Maracá Institute, the proposal for structuring a state museological unit materialized, which from the beginning of its planning and implementation had the protagonism, participation and collaboration of indigenous peoples, through the Aty Mirim Indigenous Council , whose training began in February and ended in December 2022.
