From Tuesday to Sunday, from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM

Extended hours on Thursdays until 8:00 PM


The institution remains closed on Mondays (except on holidays) and during Election days.

End-of-Year Schedule:

Christmas Eve – 24/12: Open until 1:00 PM

Christmas Day – 25/12: Closed

New Year’s Eve – 31/12: Open until 1:00 PM

New Year’s Day – 01/01: Closed


The Museum of Indigenous Cultures is located in the capital city of São Paulo, near Água Branca Park and next to the Baby Barioni Sports Complex. It is 800 meters away from Barra Funda station and 300 meters away from Francisco Matarazzo Avenue, a bus stop area.

MCI does not have parking, but it is in a Blue Zone area and the area has private parking lots.



The nearest subway station to MCI is located inside the Palmeiras-Barra Funda Intermodal Terminal, an important train station in São Paulo (Line 3-Red/Vermelha of the São Paulo Metro and Line 7-Ruby/Rubi of the CPTM and Line 8-Diamond/Diamante of the suburban train). Upon disembarking at this station, you can either walk 800 meters to the museum or, if you prefer, request a ride through a transportation app.

By Bus:

The city of São Paulo has three bus terminals: Tietê, Barra Funda, and Jabaquara. The Barra Funda terminal is the closest to MCI, approximately 800 meters away.

To reach MCI by urban bus, there are two options, which are the B/C 8615-10 and B/C 8677-10 lines. After disembarking at Francisco Matarazzo Avenue, in front of Água Branca Park, walk to the museum for two blocks along Dona Germaine Burchard Street.

By Air:

The capital has two airports: Congonhas and Guarulhos.

The closest airport to MCI is Congonhas, which is located 14km away. The Guarulhos airport (also known as Cumbica) is located 29km away.
